Jerold A. “Trix” Gebhardt, 66, of Streator; passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at his home in Streator, surrounded by loving family. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 19th at the Elias Funeral Home.  Full military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post #1492.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  Private family burial will take place at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Gebhardt, Matt McMullen, Walt “Tony” Strand, Tim Rodrick, Jason Gaydos, Charlie Gebhardt, Jim Bushma, Bruce Moore, Kenny Orr and Dan Eggleston. 

Born December 26, 1951, in Streator, he was the son of Howard and Florence (Rowe) Gebhardt.  He married Jane O’Brien on June 5, 1992. He is survived by his wife, Jane, of Streator; children Jennifer (Matt) McMullen, of Streator; Shelly (Walt “Tony”) Strand, of Minneapolis, MN; Scott Gebhardt, of Avon, IN; Lisa (Tim) Rodrick, of Iowa City, IA; and Jason Gaydos, of Beloit, WI; grandchildren Olivia Strand and Hank McMullen; sister Janet (Dave) Monterastelli, of Essex, IL; brothers Jim (Jeannie) Gebhardt, of Ottawa, IL; John (Mary) Gebhardt, of Virginia Beach, VA; Charlie (Bobbie) Gebhardt, of Streator; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jay “J Bird” Gebhardt.

Trix attended Grand Ridge Grade School and graduated from Ottawa High School in 1970.  He served in the United States Army.  He was a truck driver for many years and retired from B & D Trucking in Peru in 2014.  Trix was a member of the Streator Moose Lodge.  He was often a headliner of karaoke nights at the Oakley Inn, and could also be heard performing on occasion at West Gate bar or his backyard patio, poolside. Trix loved reading, and working his way through crossword and Sudoku books.  He enjoyed golfing, and was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan. He made ordinary days fun, and will be missed greatly by those who loved him.
