Homer W. Bishop

Homer W. Bishop Jr., 73, of Streator, passed away Thursday October 18th, 2018 at OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa.
Per his request, cremation rites will be accorded and memorial services will be held at a later date. The Elias Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Born June 24, 1945 in Home, PA, he was the son of Homer and Irene (Cameron) Bishop Sr., he married Carol J. Ashbeck on July 31, 1965 in Niles, MI.
He is survived by his wife Carol of Streator, children Daniel W. (Donna) Bishop of Joliet, Annette C. Bishop of Streator, grandchildren Kelsey and Tyler Bishop, his mother Irene Houser of Indiana, PA. He is also survived by his foster grandchildren Mandy (Farrell) Simpson, Kelli Farrell and Jason Cox, siblings Janet Bishop Hannah, Kenneth (Ruth) Houser, Thomas (Karen) Houser and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, brother James and step-father Raymond Houser.
He graduated from DeVry University. He did maintenance and repair on industrial machinery and sold patterns of his woodworking designs.
He spent many hours woodworking, loved to fish, hunt, and camp. He also spent many hours woodworking or sitting in the backyard watching the birds, chipmunks and squirrels. He was active in the Boy Scouts for several years.
