Tanner Douglas Shepard

Tanner Douglas Shepard, 25, of Gilbert, AZ, formerly of Streator, passed away October 14, 2017 in Gilbert, AZ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday November 2, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Mnsgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate. Burial will follow the mass in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, serving as pallbearers will be Brian Sharisky, Buddy Hays, Derek Vargas, Gunthar Libby, Jimmy Kling, Jody Henry, Juan Diaz and Sean Gallup. Honorary pallbearers will be Marlee Hays and his beloved furry babies Lacey Lou, Pierce and Bentley. A visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Elias Funeral Home.
Born July 21, 1992 in Ottawa, IL, he was the son of Katrina Henry and Paul Higdon.
He is survived by his mother Katrina of Gilbert, AZ, father Paul of Streator, siblings Brett Ortiz, Molly Sharisky, Megan Henry, Samantha Shepard and Grace Henry. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents Oral and Frances Higdon and maternal grandmother Shari Kelly.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Marvin and Karen Shepard anduncle Oral Higdon Jr.
Tanner was a die hard Chicago sports fan, a Cub, Bulls or Blackhawks game was always on t.v.  The day the Cubs won the World Series was the best day of his life, he was so happy he got to witness it in his lifetime. Tanner had the most infectious laugh and smile, he could make the saddest person happy.
Tanner spent much of his time hiking, attending concerts, watching sports and hanging out with his puppies. He was the most genuine person and will be missed. He was an amazing son, grandson, brother and friend.
