Marcia A. Hughes of Streator passed away Friday, January 18th surrounded by her loving family. Services were held on Monday the 21st.
Marcia was born July 2, 1940 to Joseph and Mary Hughes of Grand Ridge along with her siblings, Robert (Mary Alice) Hughes, Jerry (Kathie) Hughes, and Mary Jane (Bruce) Munsell. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including: Joe (Ana) Hughes, Tom (Kathleen) Hughes, Kathy Anderson, Kelli (Joe) Cravatta, Karen (Dan) Sabol, and Kevin Hughes. Her great nephews and nieces: Joe (Erin Hampson) Hughes, Emily (Trevor) Behrens, Ellen (Nick) Pinnola, Bridget (Zach) Wallace, Shannon (Jon Sturdevant) Hughes, Shea Anderson, Megan (Blake) Baker, JJ Cravatta, Drew (Kiley) Sabol, Tyler Sabol, and great-grand niece, Brooklyn Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Hughes.
She was a graduate from Marquette High School of Ottawa and St. Joseph School of Nursing in Joliet. Marcia spent most of her 44-year nursing career in Streator working for Dr. Schiffbauer, Dr. Moore, Dr. Ricca, Dr. Gottemoller, and Dr. Wargo.
Marcia was a caring, generous, selfless person who was full of life and set an example for all who knew her. Her dedication and love for her family will be remembered by all who loved her. She was an avid fan of the Cubs, Bears, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and whatever team her nieces and nephews were a part of.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Marquette Academy, and the Grand Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.
