Lois T. Smith, 88, of Ransom passed away Friday Nov. 30th at her home.
Funeral services for Lois Smith will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ransom United Methodist Church. Pastor Jon Wisdom will officiate and conduct graveside services in Allen Cemetery in Ransom. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Talty, Ron Tombaugh, Keith Grossman, Dale Devera, Kevin Talty, Ralph Binion and Scott Talty. A visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Elias Funeral Home.
Born November 3, 1930 in Streator, she was the daughter of Glenn and Gertrude (Swift) Tombaugh, she married Robert F. Smith October 29, 1950, he passed away August 29, 1985.
She is survived by he children Debbie (Kirk) Scott of Streator, Donna Day of Marseilles, Keith (Georgy) Smith of Streator, grandchildren Forrest Smith, Zach Day, Jake Day, Alexandrea Smith, Kira Scott and Sean Scott. Also surviving are 3 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, grandson Chad Scott, brothers Stanley and Boyd Tombaugh and sister Margaret Richardson.
She graduated from Streator Township High School in 1948 and attended Gallagher Business College in Kankakee.
Lois worked at Streator National Bank for over 26 years, prior to that she was a inspector at Lipton Tea and worked at Montgomery Wards, she was a member of the Ransom United Methodist Church, a EMT for Allen Twp. Fire Dept, Secretary of Allen Twp. Land Commission, financial secretary for Ransom United Methodist Church, secretary for Allen Twp. Cemetery, she was a 4-H leader and a “sparkette” for the fire dept. for many years.
Memorials may be directed to her church, Allen Fire Dept. or OSF Hospice.
