Another member of America's Greatest Generation has passed. Jerry Ploskunak was born on December 5, 1921. A lifelong resident of Streator, Jerry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gwendolyn. Jerry served in World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. But his heroism also extended to the loving devoted care he gave to Gwennie ("Baby") for over 20 years after she suffered a debilitating stroke. Jerry was a fun loving person who belonged to the Elks Club, Knights of Columbus, and Saint Stephen's Church. Jerry is survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Janet Kinkade, Joni Thorpe, and Heritage Health staff for their care.
