David Arthur “Art” Baker, 65, of Streator, passed away Thursday February 8, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services for Art Baker will be at 2 p.m. Saturday February 17th at the Elias Funeral Home. A visitation will be Saturday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Elias Funeral Home, burial will take place at a later date.
Born January 20, 1953 in Streator, IL, he was the son of Donald and Vera (Jonen) Baker.
He is survived by sons Erick (Christine) Baker of Bloomington, IL, Corey (Suzanne) Baker of Carmel, IN, grandchildren Taylor, Jocelyn and Joel Baker, siblings Carol Mance of Streator, Tom Baker of Streator, Donna (John) Bandura of Danville, KY, Tim (Mary Beth) Baker of Bloomington, IL, Mary Kay (Bernie) Hoffmeyer of Streator, Becky (Ron) Blue of Streator and many nieces and nephews and his ex-wife Marcie Hogan of Odell, IL
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Janet (Ronald “Pup”) Mehalic, sister-in-law Marion Baker, nephews Michael Mance, Todd Baker and niece Jenny Baker.
He graduated from St. Anthony Grade School and Streator Township High School im 1971, he then served in the United States Marine Corps, he then worked at IFP as a truck driver, Dresden Power Plant then became a plumber working at Halbert Plumbing.
Art was catholic by faith, was a member of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post #217, he was always there for you, he loved his family, he was known as Mr. Fix It to his family and always helped when any issue came up. He was very handy in all aspects of home repair and meticulous in his work. He was very quick witted and you never knew when he would just show up. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
