Carl R. Bedei

Carl R. Bedei, 78, of Grand Ridge passed away Tuesday Nov. 27,2018 at O.S.F St. Elizabeth in Ottawa.
Funeral services for Carl Bedei will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Elias Funeral Home. Rev. Anne Fergueson of the First United Methodist Church will officiate and also conduct graveside services in Grand Rapids M.E. Cemetery in Grand Ridge. A visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Elias Funeral Home.
Born November 29, 1939 in Streator, he was the son of Raymond and Gladys (Bentley) Bedei. He married Darlene Stasko on April 1, 1978 in Windsor Heights, IA.
He is survived by his wife Darlene of Grand Ridge, sons Mike Richards of Grand Ridge, Curt (Tara) Bedei of Streator, grandchildren Danielle Richards, Megan Richards, Samual Richards, Laci Richards and Emily McBride. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and uncle and aunt Herb (Marion) Bedei.
He attended Center Country School, Grand Ridge Grade School and graduated from Streator Township High School in 1957. He was farmer in Grand Ridge, worked at NAPA, was a mechanic at Melvin Trucking and ran Basic Feeds on the farm, he loved all aspects of farming, spent countless hours bailing hay and cleaning oats.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Christian Farmers Association, a FFA Alum, he volunteered his time being a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.
Carl was a hard worker, he was a humble man, the kind of man they don’t make anymore. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
