Anthony C. Sargent

Anthony C. “Tony” Sargent, 47, of Streator, passed away Tuesday January 2, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services for Tony Sargent will be at 3 p.m. Sunday Jan. 7, 2018 at the Elias Funeral Home. A visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Mount Gilead Cemetery in Decatur, IL, serving as pallbearers will be members of his family and friends.
Born June 25, 1970 in Oak Park, IL, he was the son of Wendell and Beverly (Scherer) Sargent.
He is survived by his parents of Streator, brother Steven (Kathy) Sargent of Murfreesboro, TN, uncles Maurice (Patricia) Sargent, Ransom (Bernice) Sargent, aunts Marilyn Scherer, Joyce Fundenberger, Jacqueline Davis, Patricia Sargent and Bernice Sargent, numerous cousins and close friends Bernie Minkler, Colton Wildhaber and Paul Surrock.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Anthony and Leona M. Scherer, paternal grandparents Robert and Lucille Sargent, uncles Robert Scherer, Wayne Davis and Martin Fundenberger.
He attended local grade schools, graduated from Streator Township High School, attended I.V.C.C., Milikin University in Decatur and Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI.
He was of catholic faith.
Tony loved canoeing and fishing, his yearly trip to Quctico Provencal Park in Ontario Canada where he and his family portaged their backpacks and canoe’s from lake to lake. He had a adventurous spirit. Tony was kind and loving to everyone he met, he was easy to talk to and made friends easily. His favorite memory was traveling to Woodstock, NY with his soul brother Bernie Minkler.
