George L. Centko
September 8, 1944 - November 19, 2012


George L. Centko, 68, of Streator, passed away Monday November 19, 2012 Symphony of Lincoln, Lincoln IL.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday November 24, 2012 at St. Michael the Arch Angel Church, Streator. Mnsgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate and conduct graveside services at St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Hancin, Christian Knudsen, Jeff Longbong, Scott Morris, Bill Hancin, Lou Hancin.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Elias Funeral Home, Streator.
He was born September 8, 1944 in Streator, Illinois he was the son of George L. And Frances “Fulton” Centko. He is survived by his children Christopher Centko of Streator, IL., George (Hollie) Centko of St. Michael, MN., David Centko of Streator, IL., grandchildren Dominic Centko, Matthew Centko, Jacob Centko, sisters Ruth Morris of Streator, IL., Karen (Joseph) Karkless of Streator, IL., Jannette Hancin of Streator, IL., Germaine (George) Knutsen of Pontiac, IL., and several nieces and nephews. He was formerly married to Donna Centko.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers David Centko and Jerome Centko.
He worked for Streator Dependable, Hicks Gas, and retired from Vactor Manufacturing.
He was a member of Streator Eagles Club, Lazy Acres and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and helped out the Boys Scouts.
He attended local grade schools and graduated from Woodland High School in 1962.
George is truly gonna be missed by his family and friends and especially his grandchildren who he loved dearly.
Memorial may be directed to the Streatorland Historical Society.
